5 Ways to Improve Your Leadership Skills

Not everyone is a born leader, but you can become a great leader with the right skills.

Effective leaders are also good at critical thinking, including problem-solving and decision-making skills.

So, here’s 5 ways you can improve your critical thinking skills and improving your leadership skills:

  1. Collect more and better data. Good critical thinkers collect as much high-quality data as possible and don’t take things at face value. To make quality decision, you need adequate and quality data.
  2. Learn how to differentiate between facts and inferences. With the proliferation of “fake news” on the Internet, it’s critical to know how to differentiate between facts and non-facts (such as assumptions and opinions).
  3. Break things down to first principles. First principles are fundamental principles that are true regardless of the situation or context.
  4. Use effective models. Using models to form a base for your thinking but understanding not all models are 100% accurate.
  5. Challenge your assumptions. Critical thinkers know how our brains can be biased from making assumptions, so regularly challenging your assumptions is key to good critical thinker.
