The First Room Temperature Superconductor

Superconduction benefits technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), communications, magnetic levitation (Maglev) and more.

The major caveat with superconductors is the requirement of keeping materials used in superconduction at extremely cold temperatures (-273.15°C)…which makes it a little difficult to implement in day-to-day scenarios.

However, engineers at the University of Rochester have published a recent study where they were able to achieve superconducitivity at room temperature.

It will be interesting to see how much this accelerates superconduction technology.
