Despite what many people might think, it is not necessary to have an extroverted personality in order to network successfully. The best networking strategy is simply to do good, interesting work and then put it on display so that others may take notice. Getting your work out there can be challenging when you are an introvert, but it is not impossible. When meeting new people, try asking them surprising, memorable questions instead of boring, predictable ones. Also, don’t be afraid to focus on one or two individuals instead of dividing your attention among an entire group. Get plenty of sleep in preparation for a networking event, and try connecting on Facebook instead of Linkedin. Finally, don’t launch into an unsolicited business pitch.
