Humans Take Jobs Away from Robots in Walmart…Wait, What?

The common theme we write about is how automation & robots will take over many jobs traditionally performed by humans.

But, it looks like Walmart is doing an about face…

…they have recently ended their contract with robotics firm, Bossa Nova Robotics, a firm Walmart had contracted for the last five years to provide robots to scan shelves & track inventory.

Why?

With the pandemic, Walmart is experiencing a surge in online orders for pickup, and with that they’ve hired more people to pick the orders resulting in more human staff roaming the shelves.

Also, resulting in the humans being able to do the job the robots were meant to do with similar results.

Go figure.

I bet you didn’t see that coming right?
