Satya Nadella, CEO at Microsoft, sure set off a firestorm a number of weeks ago regarding his views towards women and asking for pay raises. These comments set off a storm of debate online, on TV and in the printed press.
As a CEO today how ought we to handle gender issues? Is there an issue? Perhaps that’s the first question that initially needs to be asked. What the Nadella issue revealed was a gap or blindspot in the thinking of the CEO regarding gender and the issues women face in the boardroom. Was he properly prepped to answer such questions, and did he realize in the first place what he was saying.
