Huge Step Back for EV Supply Chain
Canada has been wooing EV battery makers to Canada recently and persuaded Northvolt, a Swedish EV battery maker to set up shop with the lure of investment money thrown at them.
Unfortunately, Northvolt filed for bankruptcy in the US this past week.
As countries scramble to try to rely less on Chinese suppliers, especially in the EV industry, this is a huge blow to that strategy.
It will continue to operate and focus on restructuring after filing the Chapter 11 in the US.
Potato Cartel Accused of Price Fixing
A potato cartel (apparently that’s a real thing), consisting of McCain Foods, Cavendish Farms and two other food giants in Canada are being accused of price fixing and colluding to raise prices of frozen potato products sold to the US.
This potato cartel accounts for 98%(!!!) of this sector.
