Steffan Surdek kept working as a coach with his current clients while also taking the time to reflect upon the kind of consulting business he wanted to build. The key challenge that the first year was creating the time to do business development in one city while working close to full-time in another city with clients. The major lesson Steffan learned was that it’s very difficult to build a business if it is a secondary project. Steffan accepted that he would learn more by hiring people to work with him and his existing clients.
