6 Steps to Returning from Maternity Leave

Being the CEO of your company and raising a child is basically like working 2 and a half jobs. And no, the 1.5 job is not the CEO part of your business, it’s the CEO of your home.

What does it mean to be a woman CEO who doesn’t want to put off maternity? Is it possible to have a baby and continue to successfully lead your business? Well, we believe that all things are possible if you rightly set your mind to it, this included. Being a parent and running a successful business should not necessarily be incompatible.

However, there are some very real issues that will arrive with maternity. In other words, there are some growing pains…with your baby as well as with your other baby (your business). How can you navigate the two?

First off, be real about your expectations and self. Can you adequately handle the pressures of being a new mother along with leading your job. One thing that can help with this is setting up leaders around you who can help you fulfill your roles of leadership while you are gone. Set up a daily Skype conference with them, preferably video, so your presence is still felt within the office. Such meeting should be regularly held and never skipped.
