Microsoft Turns 40: A Testimony to Changing With the Times

Microsoft recently turned 40. This is an unprecedented achievement in business overall, and more specifically the tech industry.

The tech industry is inundated with new ideas, ventures, programs, companies, and inventions all the time. For a tech and software company to stay in the game as long as they have, and to continue to be a major influence, is a wonderful testimony to who they are as that company.

How have they done this?

For one thing, they diversified. They didn’t lock themselves into one niche area and stay there. Yes, there platform operating system is what got them in the game, but they were savvy enough to see where the tech industry as a whole was going and they tried to keep pace. There are tablets, phones, gaming systems, programs written for other operating systems, etc.

You see, this is a company that certainly kept an eye on their initial product, but understood that it’s not just about that product but more. So they branched out and kept up with the changing face of that industry. For this reason they did not become an outdated dinosaur, and here we are now 40 years later.

Take a look at your own company and see what you can learn from their amazing success.
