There are numerous issues you need to deal with on a regular basis. Dealing with the law is one of them, and probably the least fun of all.
When it comes to things like the law, we may have a tendency to try and handle it the easy way…let’s just download those contract forms from the internet. Or let’s google that and figure out what everyone else is doing.
This is a mistake. You cannot protect your entities and thoughts in business this way. It may be tempting, especially when we want to get the ball rolling on certain projects or deals, but we simply cannot put our businesses at risk in this manner.
Another thing we tend to neglect is protecting our businesses and our own intellectual thought. We may come up with a branding idea or a method of process, and if we do not protect that intellectual thought then it may just become free game for anyone and everyone to have at it.
The law is not something to take lightly or mess around with ourselves (unless, indeed, you do have a law degree). So take the time to look through these common legal mistakes made in business…and make sure you avoid them like the plague.
