Mental fatigue is a very real part of leading a company on a regular basis. Just as physical fatigue can be detrimental to your health, mental fatigue is just as hazardous.
First off, what is mental fatigue? Is it a headache? Or a bleariness to the eyes?
Not necessarily (though it can be that, as well). Mental fatigue is simply the lack of fortitude necessary to make solid statements and decisions…it’s the lack of being able to make a judgment.
Now, as a CEO I’m sue you can see why and how this is so very important. You have to make a decisions on a regular basis. How you make those decisions and in what shape you’ll be in while you make them is determinative of whether you are mentally fatigued, or not.
So how can you overcome mental fatigue? Well, that’s the question we all need answered. There’s not necessarily one way to do it, but we have a suggestion.
You must find a way to get your mind off of what you are constantly thinking about: work. If that means you need to read, or play a sport, or workout…fine. That then is what you need.
