Leaders have all sorts of characteristics that make them leaders but one researcher think its a leader’s interpersonal warmth that truly qualifies him or her as a great leader. Interpersonal warmth is defined as likability and trustworthiness. Exuding warmth is hard work but dedicating time and commitment to building up those interpersonal relationships is an important task. It means going around the room and shaking everyone’s hand and collecting their information – in essence it’s another form of networking. Ultimately, your exuberance in developing these relationships is context dependent. You don’t want to be too warm in a company where that might come off creepy.
