This doesn’t surprise me at all as I like say our obsession with our mobile phones don’t make these smartphones but dumb phones.
If you’re running a training for your staff, ensure attendees switch off or do not look at their devices. Even from my own observations when people are too distracted by their mobile devices their focus is not 100% on what is going on and will inevitably miss key topics.
