Truth and Leadership

Recently, it was discovered that car manufacturer Volkswagen had been deceitful about its car emissions reports. It is a somewhat complicated topic and issue, but one thing that is clear is the simple and immediate conclusion that this company has been less than honest with the people it serves.

What happened as a result? The immediate backlash from the community could be felt. It was palpable. Not only were stories written and commentaries made, but major news outlets picked it up as well.

This leads us to an interesting question: What is the role of integrity in your business? If that’s a question that makes you pause to really ask yourself, think of this: The public is not pausing when they question your integrity. In fact, if there is anything that leads them to the conclusion that you lead your company in a less than truthful manner, you will receive in much the same way the very backlash that Volkswagen is now receiving.

Integrity goes a long way in business. Learn today to never step over certain lines.
