What two traits do you think of when you think of leadership? In other words, what two traits do you believe all leaders should possess?
For some, ideas of innovation may come to mind. Innovation oftentimes drives business to new heights and causes great leaps and bounds in business.
Others may think of such concepts as drive. Drive is what great leaders are made of because they won’t let anyone get in their way in order for their business to succeed. This can be very much a double-edged sword, and we need to be careful with such sentiments.
For one CEO of a large and successful fast food chain in N. America, the two traits which are essential to growth, success and continual dominance of the market may be surprising.
What are they? Humility and courage.
How doe these two work together?
For one, humility is important because it reminds us that we are not the sole leader…we are not the end all. There are others around us, a team that is there to help and to encourage. Be humble…use them and learn from them.
Why courage? Well, at the end of the day there is much that can be said for making the final decision that is so very important for progress to be just that, progress.
