he retracts his statement. Bloomberg Business Week reports that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has apologized and retracted his statement he made regarding women asking for raises. Though, it is extremely doubtful that anyone, anytime soon will actually forget the comments he made.
For all the work that has gone in to seeing business as a genderless endeavor, it’s as if Nadella’s comments propelled it backwards into the stone age. His comments have taken an extreme amount of criticism as of late from none other than the CEO of Lane Bryant, and at the forefront of news all day has been the issue of women’s rights in the work place.
With so much focused upon women today, it does beg the question…how are women treated in our own businesses? Are we at the forefront of innovation in their treatment, seeing them as equals who are just as, if not more so, deserving of equal treatment.
As we live in the 21st century in the midst of some of the greatest technological advancements ever known to man, let us not be strapped down by antiquated thinking regarding the genders of our society.
Rather, let us be on the cusp of continual and progressive innovation, not just in how business is done, but in the very workplace setting itself. For only then will we see the true change we are looking for.
