Work on that Public Speaking

As the leader of your business and a force in your industry, sooner rather than later you will be called upon to do some public speaking. You already do it to some extent or another in your board room meetings and general staff and employee meetings.

There is a comfort level when you speak in front of others you know. However, if you have to step out and speak in public, well things can get a bit frightening.

What can you do to become a better speaker? There are certainly a lot of different advices out there that you can listen to. At the end of the day, however, one thing you might want to consider is being yourself.

A common thread we see with people who do public speaking is that they tend to become almost a different person when they are up in front of people. Obviously, this is not the ideal. A natural tone and demeanor is probably the standard you want to shoot for.

Why? In your industry if you suddenly sound like a different person when you do public speaking people will have doubts about trusting you. That’s right. It will be automatically equated to a trust issue.

So take a moment to capture that natural tone.
