The 1 Thing Good Bosses Never Do When Giving Negative Feedback

People, in general feel stung by criticism, and negative feedback can make a person feel horrible, instead of the action. Charles M. Schwab offered this golden rule, don’t hurt a person’s self identity, or the way they view themselves, no matter what. You can change actions, but tear down someone’s self worth and it really is hard to repair the damage. It is better to not do that in the first place. Use the sandwich technique, deliver negative feedback in between two layers of positive feedback. Add a little extra sauce but letting your employee know they are valued, nurture their self worth.
