A few years ago, I took a digital photography class.
Peter (not his real name), the instructor, introduced himself to the class and gave us a brief background as to how he ended up doing photography for a living.
Peter didn’t start off in photography, he started off as an investment banker in New York…
…fast forward a few years later, he discovered he didn’t really want to be in banking & finance for the rest of his life.
So, he quit, started selling his photography services for weddings and teaching photography workshops.
Through the course of my career, I’ve encountered so many people just like Peter.
Not just ex-bankers, ex-financiers but also ex-lawyers, ex-dentists, ex-doctors.
People who have left high-paying professional jobs for something more fulfilling to them.
So, it’s not too surprising that this recent KPMG study found close to half of respondents working in finance, were thinking of leaving that industry for new pastures.
