By now, you might be “Zoomed” out (i.e. tired of Zoom calls), but Zoom calls & meetings aren’t going away soon.
If you need to present or lead a Zoom call, here’s some tips on how to be a better speaker on Zoom:
- Body position: show your torso, not just your face/head
- Body language: just as in face-to-face interactions, your body language online enhances or detracts from your presentation
- Use your hands to help engagement
- Body movement: again, helps with engagement while you’re speaking
- Show your facial expressions
- Vary the pace of your speaking
- Watch the tone of your voice
- Use your fingers when talking numbers (e.g. counting)
- Pretend the camera is a person you’re speaking to
- Make use of silence
