Accept Remote Work Flexibility or Risk Being Left Behind

JP Morgan CEO recently announced that he expects his staff to return to the office and shortly after, Morgan Stanley CEO, James Gorman, also demanded his staff be back in the office by September.

But as thought-leader, Adam Grant, says:

“Hey leaders trying to cancel all remote work: did you forget we made it work through a pandemic?

Productivity is about purpose and process, not place. It’s driven by why and how we work—not where we work.

Flexibility is here to stay. Those who reject it may not be.”

Here at our company, we’ve been setup to work remotely since the very beginning (way before the pandemic), so we can see how things can be run with a distributed workforce.

Sure, there will be some jobs that require someone to physically be in the office, but managers and executives are going to have to adjust their thinking and method for measuring performance by reflecting on proper performance indicators versus using an eye-test of time-spent in office.
